Jamdani is a historic and exceptionally fine handloom weaving technique from the Bengal region in The Asian subcontinent. Known for its geometric and floral motifs that appear to float on a sheer muslin backdrop, the craft is a designated UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
- Intricate motifs are woven directly into the fabric by hand during the loom process, rather than being embroidered or printed later.
- Weavers use bamboo needles or bobbins to pass extra threads through the warp for distinct patterns.
- Master weavers and their apprentices sit side-by-side. Because of the intense complexity, a single piece can take anywhere from a few months to over three years to complete.
Note - The colors seen in the image may vary from the actual product due to different lighting & computer screen resolutions and displays.
